Mechanix Wear will be the official glove sponsor of the Drag Racing film titled “Shift”, an independent film shooting in the spring of 2011. The film captures the sacrifices of a sportsman racer as he risks everything to chase his Drag Racing dream. The film will be the first feature peering into the world of stick-shift Drag Racing as its main setting in 30 years. Star and writer Randy Spence wants to communicate the passion for Drag Racing as love beyond winning. Randy Spence reflects, “During the hot summers of my youth in North Carolina it gave my family something we could all actually agree on. There is nothing like the smell of burning rubber and the sound of a 4-speed breaking loose under the lights on a Saturday night. We could all share in our love for drag racing.”
Film Synopsis: Boomer Honeycutt is a drag racer. His lone quest is to become the next Classic Gear Jammers Champion. Separated from his fiancée, abandoned by his friends, and sleeping in his van, Boomer awakes to find an eleven-year-old boy and a note from his high school sweetheart welcoming him to fatherhood. Set against the thrilling backdrop of competitive stick-shift drag racing in the heart of the South, SHIFT is a story about fathers and sons teaching each other what it takes to be a man.
